The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's import value in July 2021 reached 15.11 billion US dollars.

When compared to June 2021 billion which amounted to 17.22 US dollars, the pace of imports last month fell 12.22 percent.

Nevertheless, BPS noted that imports of several products increased significantly in July 2021.

The highest increase occurred in pharmaceutical products worth 185.9 million US dollars, which was mainly contributed by vaccine imports.

The total import value of pharmaceutical products in July 2021 was recorded at 464.6 million US dollars, a 66.76 percent increase compared to June 2021 which was 278.77 US dollars.

"The increase in imports in pharmaceuticals occurred due to the addition of vaccine imports. So from the increase of US$185.9 million for this pharmaceutical group, as much as US$150 million were vaccine imports during July 2021," said Head of BPS Margo Yuwono in a virtual press conference, Wednesday. For information, based on data from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance, specifically for the Covid-19 vaccine, Indonesia was recorded to have imported as many as 143.66 million doses until July 19, 2021.

Most of the Sinovac vaccine from China in the form of raw materials (bulk).

In detail, Sinovac ampoules are 3,001,420 doses, Sinovac in bulk for Biofarma 115,503,200 doses, Sinopharm ampoules 6,253,900 doses, AstraZeneca ampoules 14,907,440 doses, and Moderna 4,000,080 doses.
